Coca Cola Enterprises - Event Recycling Project
Recognised as the world’s most valuable brand, Coca Cola Enterprises, approached Firefly to provide a sustainable power solution for an Event Recycling programme developed for shows in the UK and France.
Firefly manufactured and then supplied Coca Cola Enterprises with six Cygnus Generators and eight of the Fold Array solar panel systems
In previous years Coca Cola Enterprises (Coca Cola) successfully ran an interactive activity at a number of high profile music festivals across Europe and the UK, to promote and encourage recycling.
The ‘Swap for Swag’ campaign enticed festival goers to trade plastic bottles, collected at the festivals, for Coca Cola branded merchandise
Building on the success of the previous year’s campaigns, for 2011 Coca Cola decided that the introduction of solar power would further decrease the carbon footprint of the project as a whole.
Firefly were asked to check feasibility and then design a Solar alternative to the standard power supply that could support all aspects of the ‘Swap for Swag’ experience.
The ‘experience’ comprises of a large plastic bottle compactor, running off a three phase supply, along with a production office with lower energy lighting and a variety of effect lighting, both of which run off a single phase supply.
The equipment supplied by Firefly Solar consists of two standalone solar power systems – one supplied to the UK and one supplied to France. Each of the systems provided comprised of three of the company’s 5kW Cygnus solar generators, configured to provide a three-phase 5kW electrical supply.
